Personal Safety Plan

A safety plan is a tool that can be used by victims of domestic violence with the goal of protecting themselves and their children from abuse.  When an individual tries to leave a violent relationship, it is often the most dangerous time.  A Safety Plan helps with the process of planning a safe escape from an abusive relationship as well as making choices based on safety  while still living with the abusive partner.  Safety planning as an integral part of providing services to victims of domestic violence and is often one of the first services that will be provided by an advocate at a domestic violence/sexual assault program.
